One of the happiest business outlets I have ventured into of late is a yarn and habidashery shop in a village near the market town I live in. This particular shop is wonderful. It has a seriously big yarn side, with all kinds of products for knitting, crochet, by machine or hand. There are many books of patterns – huge great big ring binders full of plastic wallets with the supplies of patterns. They also offer a huge range of accessories which is just too big to go into at this stage. In the other half of their once tiny emporium, but now knocked through and incorporating an old printing works next door . . . . ther are the bolts of fabric. Again a truly amazing display choice of hundreds of colours, patterns, manufacturing ideas. It would be impossible to go into that little shop and not come out with something! In fact, because the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of craft & hobbies, there is a thriving craft group that meets there to learn new techniques and ways of doing old fashioned things like socks. It is so fashionable to knit once’s own socks nowadays! This dear little shop has been in business for just a few years and I don’t know if it makes any profit, I do hope so. I mention them every time anyone in my circle requires any product they could possibly sell and I think I have introduced at lesst four sewing machines to their equally excellent service side.
