I am constantly amazed when I need to contact a major company and find myself on the end of a never ending menu button pressing exercise. I seriously question how they stay in business. I had this experience recently. It involved a major airline who excel in providing cheap-ish air travel to my favourite destinations. However, since the pandemic hit everything for six and profits were affected substantically during that so distruptive three year period, the service side of many firms has gone completely. It really winds me up to hear that detached voice assuring me that my call is important to them and would I please stay on the line. I am thinking, well if I am that important, why the heck is there no one to actually deal with me to ensure I stay important?! The crux of the problem was that my flight, booked way back in the autumn was rescheduled, but the attached extr – meet & greet parking, did not get moved with it. I didn’t know i was responsible for doing that. Well the nightmare of trying to sort out that problem when I had no email confirmation of the original booking is too awful to contemplate. Phone calls to the airline went on for hours just trying to get something done. They refused to give me the contact number of the service provider and the SP in turn kept telling me I needed to check with the airline! Customer service has gone out of the window.
